The three locations of Sacramento Jet Center (SACjet) are the most recent additions to the UVair FBO Network, a joint venture between Universal Aviation & Weather and fuel supplier Epic Aviation. Late last year, SACjet took over operation of the sole FBO at county-owned Mather Field, with its 11,300-foot main runway. The facility was previously operated by Atlantic Aviation, dating back to its 2006 merger with Trajen Flight Support.
SACjet, which is also the lone service provider at both Sacramento Executive and Sacramento International Airports, was awarded a new 35-year lease at Mather through the RFP process with a 10-year option, consolidating its position in the California capital. The company anticipates breaking ground next year on a 35,000-sq-ft terminal office complex with an adjoining 70,000-sq-ft hangar, which will more than double the existing airplane storage. Over the next decade, company owner and president Scott Powell expects to add 250,000 sq ft of hangar space to the Mather Jet Center, currently home to 10 jets and 15 turboprops. “As we take over the FBO operation at Sacramento’s Mather Field, we wanted to bring the premier FBO experience to the entire Sacramento aviation community,” said Powell. “The UVair FBO Network has demonstrated the ability to help its members do this.”
The company’s Sacramento Executive location has a 15,000-sq-ft terminal and 60,000 sq ft of indoor aircraft storage for 18 based turbine aircraft and 180 pistons, while the Sacramento International facility has a 15,000-sq-ft FBO with office space, 11 jets and 40,000 sq ft of hangar space. All three locations are open 24 hours and feature on-site car rental, pilot lounges, complimentary Wi-Fi and crew cars.
FBOs selected for inclusion in UVair’s network, which now tallies 25 locations, offer upscale facilities, outstanding customer service and a track record of exemplary safety in their operation. “We are excited about the rapid growth of the network, giving our clients more options throughout North America,” said Steve McCullough, Epic’s senior vice president for business development and strategy.
