Bombardier Aerospace named Michele (Mike) Arcamone president of Bombardier Commercial Aircraft, effective February 1. Arcamone succeeds Gary Scott, who retired on Oct. 1, 2011, after citing family responsibilities. However, Scott had drawn some criticism from the likes of Air Lease CEO Steven Udvar-Hazy for slow sales of the new C Series narrowbody.

Bombardier president and COO Guy Hachey served as interim president of Bombardier Commercial Aircraft following Scott’s retirement. "Mike comes to us with a brilliant track record throughout his 30-year career in the automotive industry,” said Hachey of Arcamone. “He brings a unique background of international experience to our team.”

A native of Montreal, Arcamone most recently held the position of president and CEO of GM Korea, based in Seoul. Arcamone joined General Motors in 1980. In recruiting Arcamone, Bombardier emphasized his “global perspective” and particularly his experience in Asia, where the company feels it needs to project a stronger presence.
