New software preemptively touches on incoming regulations
Content Body

Professional resources in system management (Prism), a wholly owned subsidiary of Argus International, has released enhanced features for its online flight risk analysis tool (Frat) software. The new features are designed to align with upcoming FAA regulations governing helicopter air ambulance operators.

Among the items addressed in the forthcoming legislation, and the Prism software are the following, establishing a method for documenting the following:

• the highest obstacle along a planned route of flight;

• a method of documenting whether or not another helicopter operator has refused an assignment;

• approval of the certificate holder’s management personnel to release a flight when a risk exceeds a level predetermined by the certificate holder.

Frat also addresses documentation of other factual information about a flight, such as whether or not medical personnel have been briefed. There is also a specific section in the new regulations evaluating human factors risks–an issue also addressed in the Frat software, among others.

In other Argus news, the company has agreed to sponsor the Public Safety Aviation Accreditation Commission, also known as the Airborne Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission. Prism v-p Chris Young said, “As the leading provider of complete SMS solutions for on-demand aircraft operators, Prism was excited to enter [this agreement] with Psaac.”
