Content Body

Australian air navigation service provider Airservices inked a deal with Saab Sensis to install that company’s Integrated Tower Automation Suite (Intas) at control towers in Perth, Cairns, Gold Coast and Brisbane Airports. Designed to better organize electronic flight and operations information, the system comes at a cost of $20 million. Intas creates a single digital suite to present information to tower controllers previously provided by numerous computer screens and paper systems. It will also add system efficiencies, such as a new clearance delivery position at Gold Coast and Cairns, without the need to add additional air traffic controllers.

The first of the new installations at Gold Coast Airport is expected to become operational by the end of this year. These new Intas installations will add to those already installed by Saab at Australia's Broome, Rockhampton, Adelaide and Melbourne Airports.
