Forty-nine Women in Aviation International (WAI) chapters—from Cameroon and Kenya to Switzerland, Canada, the U.S.—are preparing for a worldwide outreach event on Saturday. “Girls in Aviation Day” invites girls ages eight to 16 and their families to participate in hands-on aviation activities and tours, intro flights, inspirational speakers and more.

“Each chapter will do something a little different, but the one thing each event will have in common is that attendees will get to meet and interact with role models—aviation professionals who they can relate to and in whom they can see a future they might not have known was possible,” said WAI president Dr. Peggy Chabrian.

Participants will also receive a “Girls in Aviation Day” backpack, educational materials about aviation and a copy of WAI’s new magazine, Aviation for Girls. "We hope to send them home full of ideas and with a passion to pursue aviation as a career," Chabrian concluded.
