Content Body

Western Aero has completed the integration of Canoga Park, Calif.-based American Jet Industries, creating a portfolio of companies that provide parts, equipment and services for a spectrum of aviation customers. It now comprises three companies—Western Aero Service, Western Aero Repair and American Jet—managed under a single administrative system with new branding.

"We are now able to provide best-in-class aircraft parts and equipment sourcing and aircraft repair services to all segments of the industry," said Scott Balfanz, co-owner of the Western Aero portfolio. He acquired American Jet last month after owner Michael Saso, a friend and industry colleague, decided to retire. Saso had been affiliated with American Jet for nearly 45 years. Originally called California Aeromotive, American Jet was formerly owned by Allen Paulson, who later bought a Grumman Aerospace division that ultimately became Gulfstream Aerospace.

After a few changes in ownership, Saso in 2000 re-established American Jet in Southern California with a focus on buying and selling aircraft, parts and equipment. The company provides purchasing, exchange, parts review and consignment services.

Denver-based Western Aero Services provides similar services, along with repair management, primarily for military customers. Western Aero Repair, also based in Denver, is a Part 145 repair station that can provide a aircraft repair and overhaul services.
