Runway 4R/22L at Boston Logan Airport is scheduled to close for about 40 days from May 15 through late June for repaving and marking. The pier on which the approach lights are installed will also be replaced during this period.

After the initial closure, work will continue from late June to early August between 10 p.m. and 2 p.m., with Runway 22L available for arrivals only. Both runway ends will be available for arrivals and departures during the busier late afternoon and evening periods. Work will take place on various parts of the projects 24/7, but work performed to the north of Runway 15R/33L will be limited to 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday; Saturdays, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and Sundays, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

“The continuous work schedule and closure enhances safety and will reduce the overall construction timeline, bringing normal operations back faster,” airport officials said. “The goal is for the entire project, including the light-pier work, to be completed no later than November 1.” Subject to wind and weather conditions, there could be changes in flight paths during construction.
