SIA Engineering Company (SIAEC) aims to start exploring business development and collaboration opportunities in Asia with aeronautics and defense group Thales.
Under a memorandum of understanding signed on Tuesday at the Singapore Airshow, the companies agreed to look into working together in areas such as maintenance, repair, and overhaul using Thales’s facilities, including a new base planned in India, as well as repair services through SIAEC’s inventory technical management programs and network of component shops.
“The potential collaboration with Europe-based Thales could expand SIAEC’s component repair capabilities, network, and service offerings to our airline customers for Thales’s components,” said Bernd Riggers, senior vice president for component services at SIAEC. “This complements SIAEC’s overall strategic plan to grow our component repair and overhaul services network.”
The division of the Singapore Airlines group supports more than 80 international carriers and aerospace equipment manufacturers. The new agreement has been signed with Thales Solutions Asia Private Limited.
