La Jolla, Calif.-based Blue Sky Network announced receipt of an STC and PMA approval for the D1000 flight-tracking and two-way messaging system,  which operates over the Iridium satellite network. Operators and dispatchers can log on to www.skyrouter.com to track a flight and send or receive text messages to aircraft equipped with D1000 hardware, consisting of a GPS receiver, single GPS/ Iridium antenna and cockpit-mounted display with a “quick position” button for transmitting position reports.

Blue Sky Network said the D1000 can be upgraded with a dual-channel antenna allowing simultaneous data transmission and voice calling.
