Honeywell's Johnson warns of inefficiencies in NAS

Honeywell Aerospace president and CEO Robert Johnson, speaking to the Society of Automotive Engineers World Aviation Congress early last month in Phoenix, said inefficiencies in the National Airspace System are costing billions of dollars annually. He cited an FAA report that puts the cost to the U.S. economy in 2000 at “an astounding $9.4 billion.” Noting that infrastructure investments help both the aerospace industry and traveling public, he added that the Aerospace Industries Association estimates that for every $1 of infrastructure investment, about $5 flows back to the national economy. He further urged that general aviation airports receive sufficient funding so “we can ensure the viability and efficiency of this growing means of transportation.”
