The third Sukhoi Superjet 100 (S/N 95004) has completed cold-soak trials in Yakutsk, in Russia’s Far East, and returned to the Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company (SCAC) flight-test center in Zhukovsky, the manufacturer announced last month.
Yakutsk hosted successful warm-up runs after the jet sat parked for up to 17 hours in temperatures reaching -41 degrees C. The testing included a check of aircraft system performance and involved standard ground-servicing equipment. The airplane then conducted a total of seven test flights, demonstrating the smooth operation of all onboard systems. SCAC’s team also assessed the influence of short-term parking on aircraft availability for subsequent takeoff.
Upon receipt of the type certificate, SCAC plans to hold further trials to extend the temperature operational limits below -41 degrees C.
SCAC’s latest schedules call for Russian type certification of the Superjet 100 this summer and delivery of the first production airplanes to Aeroflot and Armavia by year-end.
