Eagle Preps for Spin-off

The management and pilots of American Eagle are “aggressively” preparing for an eventual divestiture of the regional airline from AMR, Eagle’s Air Line Pilots Association master executive council vice chairman, Dave Ryter, told AIN in late March. The union has yet to formulate an official position on the matter, however, because AMR has yet to share its plans for the now wholly owned subsidiary once an eventual spin-off occurs. American Eagle CEO Dan Garton attended an ALPA board meeting during the second week of March, but union leaders remain noncommittal on whether or not they should support a divestiture. AMR has scheduled its next board meeting for May 18, by which time ALPA hopes to gain more clarity on the matter, said Ryter.
