Three separate contracts executed by Sukhoi Civil Aircraft (SCAC) over the past two days at the Moscow Air Show (MAKS) have added as many as 31 aircraft to the manufacturer’s Superjet 100 backlog and expanded its coverage among leasing companies.
Anchored by a Letter of Intent to finance and lease five Sukhoi Superjet 100s, Lithuania’s AviaMA Leasing has signed a new partnership agreement with SCAC aimed at promoting the SSJ100 in emerging markets. That deal, signed Wednesday at MAKS, came just a day after SCAC and Russia’s Ilyushin Finance (IFC) signed a contract calling for delivery of 20 SSJ100s, five of which would go to a still unidentified airline in a 103-seat, long-range configuration by the end of 2015. The remaining 15 airplanes, specified to roll out of SCAC’s Komsomolsk-upon-Amur factory in the SSJ100’s “basic” configuration, would go to customers in Southeast Asia and Middle East, also starting in 2015.
Finally, on Tuesday, SCAC and Russia's VEB Leasing signed another contract that calls for delivery of another six SSJ100s to Russia’s UTAir. Worth $217.2 million at list prices, that contract calls for the first of the six airplanes to arrive at one of UTAir’s bases at the end of next year.
