Canada’s CAE (Stand 1450) has signed a long-term exclusive training contract with EasyJet to train 1,000 of the UK low cost carrier’s new cadet pilots on a multi-crew pilot license (MPL) program and to provide Airbus A320 type rating training for graduates of CAE’s Integrated airline transport pilot License program and place them with the airline.

The partnership agreement represents “a resounding endorsement of CAE’s leadership in the pilot training industry,” said Nick Leontidis, CAE group president, Civil Aviation Training Solutions.

Under the agreement, CAE will recruit and train aspiring pilots through the launch of the new ab initio Generation EasyJet Pilot Training Program. The program will incorporate the latest competency-based training innovations and EasyJet standard operating procedures and will be the first MPL course to include air traffic control simulation in the training devices.

Selected cadets will begin MPL training in 2020, and the first graduates will be serving as EasyJet first officers by the end of 2021.

Calling safety “EasyJet's greatest priority,” EasyJet interim COO David Morgan said, “We are delighted to be partnering with CAE as our pilot training partner of choice. The professionalism and skill of our pilots are in part due to our investment in training and technology.”
