De Havilland Canada (DHC) has reached agreement with Advantage Air Travel to supply a Quick Change (QC) freighter kit to support the airline’s business program by providing flexibility for its upcoming Dash 8-400 operation. Designed to offer operational flexibility, the cargo conversion products enhance the overall value and extend the revenue-generating capabilities of the Dash 8-400.

“The cargo market is a growing opportunity for airlines looking for solutions to enhance the revenue-generating capabilities of the Dash 8-400 aircraft,” said Ryan DeBrusk, v-p sales and marketing for De Havilland Canada. “De Havilland Canada’s Quick Change program offers a Transport Canada-approved cargo conversion that will provide the flexibility desired by the airline and will ensure Advantage Air’s continued success.”

In 2022, DHC announced the launch of the Quick Change cargo conversion for the Dash 8-400 to meet the operational needs of a variety of business models. Renowned worldwide for its low cost of operation, exceptional performance, and reliability in airline and special mission operations, the Dash 8-400’s rugged design also leaves it well positioned for cargo operations.

“The QC solution is a revenue expansion model that offers flexibility to convert Dash 8-400s between all-passenger and all-cargo operations and configurations, combining two-income-stream opportunities for operators and expanding revenue-base opportunities,” DHC said. “The short time required to switch configurations allows operators to adapt to market dynamics, and the installation of smoke-detection systems in the cabin eliminates the need for attendants while in cargo operation.”

DHC has delivered more 5,000 aircraft, many supporting a variety of special-mission operations including aerial firefighting, search and rescue, medical evacuation, reconnaissance, and coastal surveillance.
