Porter Airlines pilots are now training in a new Embraer E195-E2 full-flight simulator at CAE’s training center in Montreal. On Friday, the Canadian carrier and Embraer CAE Training Services (ECTS) announced the expansion of the facility, with training on the new simulator having been underway since May for both initial and recurrent training.

The simulator for the Brazilian single-aisle airliner is part of CAE’s 7000XR Series with its Prodigy visual system. Porter is expanding training of E2 flight crew with another 54 of the type to be delivered, adding to the 46 aircraft already in service.

The Prodigy Image Generator leverages Epic Games’ Unreal Engine, which CAE says has made the full-flight simulator training more realistic and effective. Included in the simulation are photorealistic renderings and enhanced moving models.

In addition to the Montreal facility, ECTS also operates E2 simulators in Singapore and Madrid. Its training portfolio covers Embraer’s family of Phenom business jets with CAE training centers in Dallas, Las Vegas, São Paulo, Burgess Hill in the UK, and, from this summer, Vienna.

“This partnership with ECTS brings together three leading aviation organizations,” said Kent Woodside, executive vice president and COO at Porter Airlines. “CAE’s expertise in training and simulation technology ensures our pilots receive the highest quality and safety standards for [those] operating Embraer’s latest E195-E2 model.”
