Serviti is displaying its VaeVam Autonomous Aeromedical Evacuation Vehicle this week at LABACE 2026. The unit can operate as a road vehicle to respond to public medical emergencies, such as major disease outbreaks, but can also be carried inside large transport aircraft such as the Embraer KC-390 operated by Brazil’s air force.
According to Marcos Campos, the Brazilian company has developed the unit to deal with major biological risks such as the need to isolate Ebola patients. He explained to AIN that the VaeVam’s battery-electric power system can sustain the equipment for up to 10 hours, allowing it to operate entirely independently of the aircraft in which it is carried.
The VaeVam includes four secured stretchers and the vehicle itself can be tied down inside the aircraft. A glass partition with a door, an additional plastic curtain and a build-in decontamination spray divides the vehicle into a “hot zone” and a cool one. The hot zone has HEPA H14 filters, as well as activated carbon and UV filters, and three air conditioning units.
According to Campos, the VaeVam could be especially valuable in protecting public health in remote regions that are ill-equipped with medical facilities to respond to crises such as an Ebola outbreak.
