KlasJet Wins FAA Approval for U.S. ACMI Operations

Carriers short on capacity in the U.S. market can now wet-lease Boeing 737NGs from private jet and charter provider KlasJet, which has received FAA Part 129 operations specifications covering foreign air carrier flights to, from, and within U.S. territory.

The approval was the last step KlasJet needed, said director of flight operations Diako Rad, noting that the Avia Solutions Group company already holds U.S. DOT, Transportation Security Administration, and Customs and Border Protection approvals. Its aircraft, crew, maintenance, and insurance (ACMI) and charter operations must stay within the limits of its operations specifications and DOT conditions.

“The question has changed when we are in discussion,” Rad said. “Previously, when a carrier asked whether we could operate in the U.S., the answer was that we were working towards it. Today, the answer is yes.”

Interest tied to the U.S., from current partners and the broader market alike, drove the push for approval, according to Rad, who noted that the Americas form one of the world’s largest aviation markets, with sharp seasonal swings in demand and constantly shifting capacity.

He sees the service filling gaps when airlines face peak-season demand, unavailable aircraft, or disrupted operations. “Instead of adding permanent aircraft and crews for what might be a temporary requirement, ACMI gives them immediate additional capacity. We bring the aircraft, crews, maintenance, and insurance and integrate that capacity into their operations,” he said.
