Content Body

Garrett/Piedmont Hawthorne/Associated is closing its Long Island, N.Y. and Columbus, Ohio facilities. The engine work at Long Island, as well as at Springfield, Ill., will move to company facilities in Augusta, Ga., Houston and Los Angeles. Long Island’s airframe work and Columbus’s avionics work will go to the company’s Springfield operation. Frank Klaus, who last month revealed he would retire as CEO, led the integration of Garrett Aviation Services into The Carlyle Group, a U.S. private-equity firm that acquired Garrett in August last year. He was subsequently named president and CEO of the newly created joint company, which also includes the former Piedmont Hawthorne Aviation and Associated Air Center.
