Mitsubishi MU-2B-60, Parker, Colo., Aug. 4, 2005–Making an instrument approach to Centennial Airport, near Denver, MU-2 N454MA crashed in night instrument conditions. The instrument-rated commercial pilot, the sole occupant, was killed and the airplane, registered to and operated by Flight Line of Watkins, Colo., was destroyed. The cargo flight was on an instrument flight plan from Salt Lake City.

Cleared for the ILS approach to Runway 35R, the pilot acknowledged the clearance and was then cleared to land by the Centennial Tower. The pilot’s acknowledgment was his last transmission. Radar data showed him below the glideslope and the tower alerted
him to the low altitude. The pilot was current and had 1,200 hours in make and model,
with a total of 4,800 flight hours.

Weather radar showed weak to moderate echoes in the vicinity of the accident site.
