At an oversight meeting on the President’s proposed FY2006 budget for the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), subcommittee chairman Hal Rogers (R-Ky.) expressed concern about the lack of progress by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and TSA in reopening the airport. Last year Congress ordered the TSA to submit to Congress by March 1 this year a report on the status of actions it and the DHS are taking to reopen the airport to general aviation. Assistant Secretary for Homeland Security David Stone indicated that the TSA has submitted a draft of the required report to the DHS for final review. A TSA final report to Congress was due no later than April 1.
