NTSB: Many Discrepancies in TEB Challenger Crash

Failure of the crew to perform required weight and balance calculations and other weight-related procedures, lack of appropriate records to support training statements and improper operations by several companies were discovered by the NTSB during its ongoing investigation into the February 2 crash of a Challenger 600 at Teterboro Airport in New Jersey. Details of these and several more irregularities surrounding the flight are detailed in a series of factual reports made available by the Safety Board on Monday. The investigation has already led to the FAA and DOT suspending the certificate of one charter company, proposing a hefty fine for the operator who flew the aircraft and reaching a negotiated settlement with the charter broker who booked the flight. The investigation also prompted the FAA to issue a guidance document involving wet leases.
