Cessna to assemble Mustang at independence plant

Cessna Aircraft president and CEO Jack Pelton said last month that the Wichita company’s newest business jet, the Citation Mustang, will be assembled at its Independence, Kan. plant. The facility was dedicated to the revival of the company’s single-engine piston airplane line eight years ago, said Pelton, while noting, “Today, we’re excited to announce that a new era of business jets will be built in Independence.” Cessna has orders for more than 200 Mustangs. Because of this assembly work, the Independence plant will increase its workforce by 500 to meet demand for the six-seat very light jet.
