Former US Airways Executive named COO at Flight Options

Flight Options, the second-largest fractional aircraft provider, last month named Michael Scheeringa as COO. Formerly v-p of US Airways’ Express division, Scheeringa will be responsible for the overall operations, maintenance, procurement and customer care for Flight Options. He will report directly to Flight Options chairman and CEO John Nahill.

“Michael brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge in the realms of customer service, fleet development, strategic planning and operations management,” Nahill said. “His background, drive and innovative ideas will complement our leadership team and allow us to enhance operational efficiency, streamline procurement and increase our focus on customer care.”

In his previous position, Scheeringa oversaw a $1.2 billion division of US Airways with more than 2,200 daily departures, Nahill told employees. “He is credited with bringing US Airways’ operational performance to industry-leading levels for on-time departures and arrivals. In addition, he championed a US Airways customer-first initiative. This was a management development program that provided a quantitative assessment of achievements in the areas of customer service, budget, safety and personnel development.”

At US Airways, Scheeringa previously held a series of officer-level positions, managing customer service, operations and corporate planning, in addition to overseeing the MetroJet and US Airways shuttle divisions. He has more than 13 years of experience in the aviation industry. Scheeringa holds a bachelor’s degree in transportation and logistics management from Arizona State University.

Scheeringa “brings a fresh set of eyes to how we can best integrate our maintenance and owner services efforts, to put together a more streamlined process into ultimately being able to deliver  better service to our customer,” Nahill said.

Based in Cleveland, Flight Options offers fractional shares and leases in a fleet of more than 200 aircraft. Last summer Raytheon Co. became the majority owner of Flight Options.
