An NTSB investigation is under way into the crash of a Mitsubishi MU-2 while on an IFR approach to Centennial Airport, Colo., on August 5. The sole-occupant pilot was killed. N454MA, registered to Flight Line of Adams, Colo., was reportedly on an air-taxi cargo flight from Salt Lake City and had been cleared to land when it crashed about 2.5 miles south of the airport. Reported weather at the time was three miles visibility, rain and mist, with clouds scattered at 700 feet, broken at 1,200 feet and overcast at 2,200 feet. Wind was 10 degrees at seven knots. On learning of the accident, Noel Takayama, general manager of the aircraft product-support division of Mitsubishi, in a statement expressed the company’s sympathy to the family of the pilot. At the request of the NTSB, the Addison, Texas-based product-support division dispatched an accident investigation team to Denver to assist the Safety Board.
