Five people were killed in the crash of a King Air E90 on June 23 and two people were hurt in the crash of a C90 on June 13. The pilot and the four passengers aboard the E90 (N62BL) died during an attempt to land at False River Regional Airport in New Roads, La., at about 7:20 p.m. The twin turboprop had departed from Jonesboro, Ark., about two hours earlier. Some witnesses reported that the airplane touched down on the 5,000- by 75-foot runway, rose into the air, banked left and hit the ground before bursting into flames. Official weather information is not yet available. Meanwhile, the pilot and his wife were critically injured when their C90 (N49LL) reportedly crashed, on an attempted go-around after trying to land on the 3,715- by 35-foot runway at Marble Canyon Airport, Ariz., at about 3 p.m. Weather at the time of the accident was reported at nearby Page Municipal Airport as wind less than four knots and 10 miles visibility in clear skies. At press time, the NTSB had yet to issue preliminary reports on either accident.
