Audio International, a division of DeCrane Aircraft, announced the incorporation of an 802.11b wireless cabin access port into its full line of cabin-management and in-flight entertainment products. The access point, which provides wireless local-area network (LAN) connectivity for use on board the airplane, is Arinc 763-network-server-system compliant. The unit can communicate with any IEEE 802.11-compliant personal electronic device, such as a properly outfitted laptop computer or personal digital assistant. The access point has two integrated 10/100BaseT Ethernet switch ports with auto-detect capability. These ports allow all additional units to be daisy-chained for multiple unit installation support and the sharing of resources such as file, Web,
e-mail and print servers.
