Bombardier Opens New Regional Aircraft Base in Tucson

Bombardier recently opened its Tucson, Ariz. Part 145 repair station for CRJ and Q-series aircraft. Bombardier Regional Aircraft Services Tucson is modeled after Bombardier’s other heavy-maintenance facility, the West Virginia Air Center (WVAC) in Bridgeport, W. Va. The 131,000-sq-ft facility, designed to support U.S.-based regional airline operators, can handle as many as 10 regional aircraft at a time. The first aircraft that rolled into the new facility was a Bombardier CRJ900 operated by Mesa Air Group.

The facility is located with Bombardier’s business aircraft completion center at Tucson International Airport (TUS). It offers heavy maintenance and modifications, structural repairs, component repair and overhaul, avionics, fabrication, welding, non- destructive testing and a machine shop. The facility went into service with 58 employees and is expected to reach 300 technicians at full capacity.
