Garmin named three additional OEM platforms for its G1000 avionics system, in the Cessna Caravan, Socata TBM 850 and under-development PiperJet. Cessna announced at the show that it is making the G1000 standard equipment in the Caravan starting in the first half of next year. The upgrade will be brought to all current production Caravan models. In Socata’s TBM 850, the G1000 system will replace dual Honeywell EFIS 40 displays and dual Garmin GNS 530 navcom/GPS units with a three-LCD panel featuring a center 15-inch MFD and two 10.4-inch PFDs. The TBM 850 will also be equipped with Garmin autopilot, dual RVSM-compliant digital air-data computers and class-B TAWS. The PiperJet G1000 system will also have two PFDs and one MFD as well as Garmin’s integrated flight control system and an engine performance data display.
