Eurocopter and Hermès, two companies with distinctly different disciplines, have launched an effort that will blend their respective skills and creative genius in l’Hélicoptère par Hermès. It is, according to Eurocopter, “a reappraisal of the helicopter’s potential as a form of personal transportation.” The EC 135, a light, multi-mission, twin-engine Eurocopter, was selected for the maiden effort. The result is a spacious cabin, storage space, unobstructed flat floors, sliding doors and seating for four passengers and a pilot. The cabin reflects the minimalist signature of the Paris-based gift and apparel designer, including surfaces in the same Toile H canvas used
on Hermès travel bags. Hermès artisans also made extensive use of fabrics and leathers
to reduce cabin noise.
