The U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency has recognized Gulfstream for its efforts in ensuring the safety and security of its supply chain. The airframer was awarded “tier three” status by the agency as part of its voluntary Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) initiative launched in 2002, which was designed to strengthen business supply chain and border security while facilitating legitimate trade. Gulfstream was given that status after ensuring its suppliers were meeting the security requirements set forth by C-TPAT. According to the program, the importer is expected to be responsible and knowledgeable about the contents of a shipping container from loading to delivery. The “tier three” classification means the OEM is now eligible to receive import benefits available to C-TPAT members, which were not divulged for security reasons.
