Capital Aviation Brings Vision 1 to GIII

Capital Aviation in Bethany, Okla., has completed installation of Universal Avionics’ EFI-890 EFIS, including elements of the Vision 1 synthetic-vision system, in a Gulfstream III, the installer announced last month. The cockpit retrofit included the addition of four eight- by nine-inch displays, a Universal terrain awareness and warning system and upgrades to the FMS. Capital Aviation’s Larry Price said the company installed the EFIS using an STC package from IFR Avionics and noted that this was the first installation of the Universal cockpit into a GIII originally equipped with Honeywell avionics.
