First 30-in. LCD monitor introduced

Baker Electronics has introduced aviation’s first 30-in. flat-screen LCD monitor. A spokesman for the Sarasota, Fla. company said the 25-lb monitor not only weighs about 55 lb less than a comparable gas plasma monitor, but consumes less power and requires no additional depth for cooling. It also produces no electromagnetic interference. Baker plans to begin deliveries early in the second quarter and will price the unit in the $25,000 range.
