Claiming “there is no merit to the lawsuit or to the allegations in it,” Savannah Air Center said it will defend itself against a $3.7 million claim brought in U.S. District Court by USA Interactive. In the suit, filed in May in U.S. District Court, New York-based USA Interactive claimed that the company’s Gulfstream IV, in for a major interior refurbishment, was delivered 11 weeks late and with numerous serious electrical, plumbing and cabinetry problems. Savannah Air Center opened in December 1999, and according to v-p Jeff Zacharius, “as far as workmanship is concerned, it was very, very good and there were no problems. Deliveries are based on customer input and design specifications. The customer’s designer never completed the package, showed no concern with schedule or cost of work-order changes and made design changes right up to the very day we delivered the airplane.”
