Runway safety council formed

The FAA and aviation industry have formed a Runway Safety Council to examine root causes of runway incursions and make recommendations about runway safety. The group includes 12 to 15 industry representatives and held its first meeting in late March. Recommendations that are accepted will be assigned to either the FAA or industry, depending on which is better able to “control the root cause and prevent further runway incursions,” according to the FAA. “The council will track recommendations to make sure appropriate action is taken.”
