GARLICK UH-1H, CLARK FORK, IDAHO, JUNE 21, 2002–The restricted-category helicopter, registered as N114DR, sustained substantial damage after hitting terrain shortly after departing a service pad near Clark Fork at approximately 5:15 a.m. The commercial-rated pilot, the sole occupant of the helicopter, was killed in the crash.
Owned by Northwest Helicopters of Olympia, Wash., the helicopter was being used for external-lift logging operations under Part 133. VMC prevailed and the aircraft was not on a flight plan for the local flight.
