Content Body

Miami-based Quiet Technologies said the FAA now has all the test data, and the company expects to receive an STC for its Gulfstream II/III Stage 3 hush kit this month, about two months later than the previously revised date of the long-delayed program. The $1.5 million system (installed) does not reduce takeoff or climb performance or adversely affect range at typical cruise speeds, according to officials. The 230-lb kit, which retains Gulfstream’s original reversers, can be installed in 10 days. Separately, Stage III Technologies of La Jolla, Calif., won’t have its GII/III hush kit ready to deliver until it receives an STC for new reversers in the spring. Meanwhile, since Really Quiet of Mojave, Calif., received the only aftermarket STC in August last year, it hasn’t installed any kits other than the one on the original customer aircraft used for final FAA approval and customer demos. A Really Quiet official said the company plans to start two installations, which require about six weeks of downtime each, before year-end.
