Content Body

At the request of airport authority Massport, Signature at Boston Logan Airport (BOS) relocated its aircraft parking area on August 10 from the south end of the ramp area to the north-side cargo area. Temporary buildings with telephones and computer terminals are being installed, but the existing Signature terminal is a 20-min van ride from the new parking area. The move is part of Massport’s master plan for the airport, and Signature officials told AIN that the permanent status of its leasehold location remains unsettled at this time. It’s unclear whether a permanent terminal can be constructed at the new location. One pilot writing on NBAA’s Air Mail Internet chat line spotted a silver lining to the inconvenient situation when he pointed out that there is a gate leading directly to the new parking area so limo and cab access to aircraft is now easier for passengers, if more difficult for the pilots. He also wrote, “Signature is nice enough to go and get your coffee and ice while you get your airplane ready.” The pilot also put in a good word for Rita’s Catering in Boston.
