Gloucestershire Airport in the southwest of England wants to attract a new FBO to handle its increasing volume of corporate aircraft traffic. Traffic during August was up by 32 percent, reaching a 10-year high. Total annual movements are expected to exceed 82,000 this year and, although the majority of these are light general aviation flights, the airport is now receiving growing numbers of midsize and large business jets, according to facility manager Gordon Griffiths. There are now five executive charter operators based at Gloucestershire Airport, which is located midway between the cities of Cheltenham and Gloucester and close to the M5 freeway linking southwest England with the Midlands region and the North. The airport has invested in a new terminal building and two new hangars are now planned. It is also in talks with an undisclosed regional airline to launch scheduled services.
