FBO expands at Orlando airport

Marathon Flight Services broke ground recently on an 8,000-sq-ft FBO at Kissimmee Municipal Airport near Orlando, Fla. The new facility is scheduled to open next spring. Marathon’s construction project reflects what has been a record-breaking year in air traffic at the general aviation airport, according to Marathon officials. In addition, Marathon will construct a 16,000-sq-ft hangar adjacent to the new FBO building. The company also has a lease on four additional acres to be developed for corporate hangars and offices. “We’ve been here at the airport for 34 years and have never seen more opportunity here than there is now,” said Marathon owner Jeanne Birks. “We also have a lease on additional property, so our plans for expansion go beyond what we’re breaking ground on today.”
