Content Body

The airborne products division of Teac announced the availability of new “plug and play” digital file servers for use with the company’s in-flight entertainment systems.  The AE-1600SS digital audio server and VE-801SS video server can store and replay up to four times the digital content of tape-based units, Teac claimed. Because the VE-801 uses the same form factor as Teac VHS video systems, it can replace current tape units installed in any Teac entertainment system. Both digital file servers can play MPEG1 and MPEG2 movies. Content is loaded through the units’ front-slot DVD drives into solid-state flash memory that can hold two hours of digital video and as many as 40 hr of audio content. Both units are Arinc 592 compatible.
