Content Body

The public comment period on a proposed rewrite of FAR Parts 125 and 135 has been reopened until November 13, at the request of the aviation rulemaking committee reviewing the proposal. The regulatory review was prompted by myriad changes in the industry since Part 135 was originally written in the mid-1960s, including the growing use of bizliners such as the BBJ. General Aviation Manufacturers Association president Ed Bolen is industry chairman of the steering committee. Part 135 covers the requirements for small commuter and on-demand commercial operations, while Part 125 governs certification and operations of airplanes with 20 or more passenger seats or a max payload of at least 6,000 pounds.
