BOMBARDIER CL-600-2B19 CRJ-100ER, BREST, FRANCE, JUNE 22, 2003–Air France Flight 5672 departed Nantes Atlantique Airport (NTE) in France at 11:15 p.m. with a planned destination of Brest-Guipavas Airport (BES). As the Canadair Regional Jet 100ER (F-GRJS) approached Brest, the crew was cleared for a Runway 26L approach. The aircraft was seen deviating to the left of the runway centerline and above and below the glideslope. Approximately 25 seconds before impact the aircraft was well below the published glideslope and the Ground Proximity Warning System (GPWS) activated. The pilot increased engine power but the aircraft touched down in a field and collided with several obstacles at 11:55 p.m. The captain was killed and the copilot and two passengers were injured. Everyone but the captain was able to exit the aircraft before the subsequent post-crash fire. Weather at the time of the accident was wind 320 degrees at nine knots, varying between 280 and 360 degrees. The visibility was 2,625 feet, with the Runway 26 RVR varying between 4,600 feet and 5,000 feet in fog and broken clouds at 200 feet.
