Bombardier Learjet 25, St. Augustine, Fla., July 21, 2007–The NTSB did not determine the reason for the Learjet’s loss of power on both engines while on landing approach. The SK Logistics jet was descending from 5,000 feet for a visual approach to St. Augustine Airport. As the copilot reduced power, both engines quit. The captain was unable to restart the engines but managed to land on the runway “hard.” No anomalies were found on subsequent test runs, but it was discovered that the airplane was equipped with an aftermarket thrust-lever quadrant, and that the power lever locking mechanism pins as well as the thrust-lever quadrant idle stops for both engines were worn. The power lever locking mechanism internal springs for both the left and right power levers were worn and broken.

Damage to the airplane was substantial, but no one was injured.
