Gulfstream has contracted with Aircraft Security & Alert Systems, the sole provider of custom-designed Medeco locks for aircraft, to develop an advanced lock system for the Savannah OEM’s new G650.

The new hardened-steel locks are smaller and lighter and designed to be installed more easily in confined areas. As with other locks created for Gulfstream, they align vertically when in the locked position so that pilots can tell at a glance that all doors and panels are secured.

Medeco claims its locks are unique in that they have two sets of tumblers and keys are bi-directionally cut, both vertically and horizontally. Duplicate keys can be produced only by the Dallas-based lock specialist and only for the documented owner of an aircraft.
