Content Body

Flight Display Systems of Alpharetta, Ga., said it has started shipping the first Blu-ray DVD player developed specifically for the aircraft cabin. Capable of playing Blu-ray discs or regular DVDs, the $4,879 unit interfaces with HD monitors and Flight Display Systems’ cabin management unit and includes an infrared remote control. The company last year introduced the Fly HD line of cabin displays and an innovative way of playing HD movies consisting of a PlayStation 3 docking station that allows the gaming system’s Blu-ray player to link with cabin monitors. With the introduction of the dedicated Blu-ray player, aircraft operators have a better-integrated choice for watching HD movies.
