JetDirect Closes, Wayfarer Aviation Takes Over

On Friday, JetDirect Aviation chairman and CEO Greg Campbell notified employees that their jobs were terminated and that JetDirect has “ceased to operate.” Shortly after that notification, Wayfarer Aviation announced it had purchased “substantially all the assets of JetDirect Aviation.” Wayfarer Aviation is the new name for JetDirect Aviation Acquisition Company (JDAAC) and is backed by Brantley Partners of Beachwood, Ohio. In the weeks leading to the closing of JetDirect Aviation and the asset sale, JDAAC and Wayfarer Aviation chairman Robert Pinkas promised that management clients, many of whom are owed hundreds of thousands of dollars, would be repaid if they signed a consent agreement to move their aircraft to JDAAC, which took over JetDirect’s Part 135 certificate. Current and former employees owed unpaid payroll, benefits and expense reimbursements were also promised payment. However, many employees have told AIN that they have not been paid and received no final paycheck after Friday’s shutdown, and many also said they were not offered jobs with the new company. Attorney Ed Kammerer at law firm HinckleyAllenSnyder is currently gathering information from former employees in preparation for a class-action lawsuit against JetDirect Aviation.
