Touching Bases: Silverwing building LUX fly-in cmmunity

The former Sandpoint Aviation FBO at Sandpoint Municipal Airport next to Northern Idaho’s Lake Pend Oreille is now SilverWing Aviation. The FBO is part of a new development on the airport called SilverWing at Sandpoint, a fly-in community built on 18 acres with direct airport access. The SilverWing development includes 44 two-story “fly-in units” with a hangar on the ground floor and room on the top floor that can be developed into home or office space. There are also seven custom-designed models with hangars ranging in size from 3,080 to 4,200 sq ft and residential space. All property is sold on a fee-simple basis so buyers own the buildings and the land. SilverWing also is building a recreation facility with pool, spa, showers and exercise room. Residential hangar sizes range from 2,100 to 5,250 sq ft and lot plus building prices from $981,000 to $2.332 million. SilverWing is building a new FBO, which should open in mid-2010, as well as additional aircraft storage hangars and a delivery center for single-engine turboprop manufacturer Quest Aircraft.
