Comeaux Pleads No Contest in Parts Scheme

Last year Jerry Roy Comeaux and his wife, Vicki, were indicted for “conspiracy to commit fraud, fraud involving aircraft parts, mail fraud, wire fraud, conspiracy to commit money laundering, and money laundering,” according to the U.S. District Court of South Carolina. On Monday, Comeaux pleaded no contest to the felony charges and was sentenced to three years’ probation and payment of more than $400,000 to victims. According to the indictment, Comeaux and his wife operated Quality Aircraft Support and shipped parts marked with documents identifying the company as an FAA-certified repair station after the operation had surrendered its repair station certificate in April 2006. More than a year-and-a-half later, the FAA issued an Unapproved Parts Notification (UPN S2007-00727004) on Dec. 14, 2007, to warn the aviation industry of the problem with the Quality Aircraft Support products. According to the UPN, Comeaux “improperly returned auxiliary power units and component parts to service by producing documents similar to the FAA Form 8130-3 Airworthiness Approval Tag.”
