Jim Ziegler has joined Greenwich AeroGroup as president and CEO. He was previously COO of Jet Aviation, responsible for all North American operations, after a 21-year career with Learjet and Bombardier. Ziegler brought with him a deal he brokered to acquire Banner Aerospace on behalf of Greenwich AeroGroup. Banner Aerospace is a diversified group of companies with interests in parts distribution and repair and overhaul.
Hiring Ziegler is Greenwich AeroGroup’s latest move to increase its footprint in the MRO industry. Last fall the company added executive v-p Gerry Goguen, formerly senior v-p of global customer relations and business strategy for Dassault Falcon. Ziegler said the company is decisively moving toward being a major international force in the MRO and refurbish- ment industry, citing their acquisitions of Atlantic Aero, Western Aircraft and Summit Aviation.
“Banner is a perfect fit for us because it provides services our other units require. Acquiring it not only brings in additional business but it gives us more control over our own business,” Ziegler told AIN. “We’ve laid out a three-year strategy to [expand] the business both by acquisition and by adding capability at existing units. When the MRO and refurb market recovers we’ll be in position to take advantage of it.”
